Citizenship Ceremonies
- If you are planning on becoming an Australian citizen, contact the Department of Home Affairs for guidance on applying for citizenship.
- The Department of Home Affairs can arrange your citizenship application, interview, test and approval process.
- Once your citizenship application is approved by the Department of Home Affairs, the City of South Perth will send you an invitation to a Citizenship Ceremony, where you will become an Australian citizen.
- The City of South Perth host Citizenship Ceremonies four times a year in January, April, June and Sept of each year.
- The City invites conferees to a Citizenship Ceremony and if they wish to change their Ceremony date, they need to notify the City first.
Important Information to Mention
- Please be aware that the Department of Home Affairs is solely responsible for the allocation of recipients, to be invited to Citizenship Ceremonies (NOT the City).
- The City of South Perth only receives listings of allocated recipients approximately 5-weeks before each scheduled ceremony. Approved citizenship applications will be referred to local Councils in approval date order.
- Waiting times vary between three to six months. For an accurate wait time for your ceremony, please visit:

- Reissue of certificates if they have been lost.
- Changes of address or contact details ( i.e moving to the City or moving out of the City).
- Requests for an urgent ceremony.
