Citizenship Ceremonies

  • If you are planning on becoming an Australian citizen, contact the Department of Home Affairs for guidance on applying for citizenship.
  • The Department of Home Affairs can arrange your citizenship application, interview, test and approval process.
  • Once your citizenship application is approved by the Department of Home Affairs, the City of South Perth will send you an invitation to a Citizenship Ceremony, where you will become an Australian citizen.
  • The City of South Perth holds Citizenship Ceremonies four times a year.
  • The dates for 2024 is as follows:
  • Friday 26th January 2024 (Australia Day)
  • Monday 8th April 2024
  • Monday 10th June 2024
  • Thursday 19th September 2024
  • The City invites conferees to a Citizenship Ceremony and if they wish to change their Ceremony date, they need to notify the City first. 

Department of Home Affairs

The Department of Home Affairs handles all enquiries related to the citizenships, including:
  • Reissue of certificates if they have been lost.
  • Changes of address or contact details ( i.e moving to the City or moving out of the City). 
  • Requests for an urgent ceremony.
