Nuisance cats
If you have a cat on your property that is causing a nuisance, you can set a trap in your yard. Trapped cats can only be seized by an authorised person. If you trap a cat you must notify the City of South Perth and arrange a time to take the cat to the Animal Care Facility.
Hiring of traps
City of South Perth residents can hire cat traps from our Animal Care Facility, located at 199 Thelma Street, Como. Traps are available by appointment only.
- A $35 cash deposit is required at the time of hire and will be refunded once the trap is returned undamaged.
- Once a cat has been safely trapped, please call the Animal Care Facility during opening hours to arrange a time to drop it off. For drop-off or collection, please contact the team on 9474 0944.
- When collecting a trap, you'll need to complete and sign a hire agreement provided by the City.
Private property only
Traps may only be set within your own property. They cannot be placed on public land or other properties without permission.
Trap hire is by appointment only
Trap hire is by appointment only. This is so that the Animal Care Facility officer can demonstrate and guide you on how to safely use the cat trap and provide further instructions on what to do once the cat is trapped.
