Household hazardous waste (HHW)

Household hazardous waste (HHW) is any product used in and around the home that is flammable, toxic, explosive or corrosive such as petrol, paints, acids, chemicals, poisons and gas cylinders. HHW poses serious risks to our health and the environment if it is not disposed of properly.
These items cannot go in your household general waste bin. They may cause fires in bins or waste trucks, and if sent to the Kwinana Energy Recovery Facility, can release toxic chemicals during combustion, creating health risks and contributing to air pollution.
The Household Hazardous Waste Program, funded by the Waste Authority WA, provides 15 free drop-off facilities in the Perth metropolitan area and regional WA for residents to safely dispose of hazardous materials.
