Closed: Mondays, Tuesdays and public holidays

Entry vouchers

As part of the annual rubbish levy, ratepayers receive free entry vouchers for the Recycling Centre. These are sent out at the beginning of each financial year with the rates notices.

In 2025-2026, ratepayers will receive a voucher for six entries to the Recycling Centre to dispose of waste: four payloads of green waste and two payloads of general waste. Each voucher covers up to 2m³ per load, and general waste vouchers can also be used for two mattresses. This initiative aims to help residents transition to on-demand verge collections (Verge Valet™).

To use your entry voucher, present it in full to the attendant at the Recycling Centre. The attendant will stamp your voucher and return it, provided there are any remaining entries on your voucher.

Please note:

Your assessment number and barcode are printed on the entry voucher.
Once all the entries are used, you will not be issued a replacement voucher.
Only property owners can request a replacement for a lost voucher.
Occupiers who are not owners or do not pay a rubbish levy are not eligible for a voucher.
Occupiers must obtain the voucher from the property owner or pay to use the Recycling Centre.
Only valid vouchers will be accepted.
The gate attendant's assessment of the vouchers and loads are final.

Electronic vouchers

The City uses electronic entry vouchers, each with a unique barcode that is scanned upon entry. Barcodes can be scanned from mobile phones, provided the screen doesn't have a privacy protector.

If the barcode cannot be scanned, the attendant can manually enter the voucher number.

Lost entry vouchers

If you've lost your entry vouchers, submit a request below for a replacement. The City will verify that the original vouchers haven't been used and will issue replacements if eligible.

New owners

If you've recently moved into a property and haven't received vouchers, please raise a request below.

Newly built properties

For newly built properties requiring new waste services, please submit a request below.

Vacant blocks

Vacant land does not incur the rubbish levy, so owners are not entitled to entry vouchers.

Commercial properties

Commercial properties are not eligible for entry vouchers, as this service is not included in their waste service.

Be a GREAT Sort - do better than the bin.

If you can't donate or sell your pre-loved items, the Reuse Shop at the City's Recycling Centre accepts a number of items free of charge. Check the list of accepted items before visiting.

Electronic waste, including televisions, computer equipment, domestic printers and mobile phones (non-residents fees will apply)
Cardboard, packing boxes, magazines, newspapers without wrapping
Polystyrene
Used motor oil that is not contaminated with other petroleum products, coolants or similar, up to a maximum of 20 litres per visit
Scrap metal, including washing machines and microwaves
Fluorescent lighting tubes and globes
Household and vehicle batteries
Plastic bottle-top lids
Disposable face masks
Coffee pods
X-Rays
Bicycles
Clean reusable clothing can be donated through the Charity Bins
General recyclables as per the household Recycling Bin

Commercial businesses

Free recycling is not applicable for commercial businesses.

Reusable green waste/recycling bags

The City's Recycling Centre offers durable 120L reusable recycling bags for residents, available for collection and return during opening hours. The bags can be used for green waste or recyclable material and are sold for $6 each. They can be reused multiple times.

Residents can dispose of up to two bags of green waste per day free of charge. Proof of residency is required to purchase the bags. Collected green waste is sent to an organics processor, where it's shredded and composted into garden mulch.

Items not accepted

Due to our facility being approved as a recycling centre and not an approved household hazardous waste disposal site, we cannot accept all waste. The following waste is not accepted at the City's Recycling Centre:

Any vehicle exceeding a tare weight of three tonnes.
Any material exceeding a length of 1.8m.
Household hazardous waste.
Asbestos cement products including Hardiflex or Hardifence sheeting.
Liquids other than engine oil.
Wet paint - Refer to Paintback's drop off locations to search for your nearest disposal centre.
Building rubble including sand, rock, soil and concrete.
Co2 bottles, butane, cylinders, solvents and household chemicals (garden pesticides).
Putrescible/food waste.
Unbagged blow-in insulation, gypsum board (we accept these items only if they are bagged).

Paint

The Recycling Centre does not accept wet paint even in small amounts. Left over paint should be treated before it is disposed. If the paint to be disposed of is not hard, the following steps should be taken:

Spread out some paper in a low flat cardboard box and then cover it with an absorbent material, such as kitty-litter or sand.
Slowly add the liquid paint and stir it until it has all mixed with the absorbent material.
Leave in a safe place until hard or dry.

Dry paint is not a significant environmental pollutant but liquid paint or paint solvents can contaminate soil or water and even cause fires or explosions. Alternatively, if there is a small amount of paint left in the tin, it can be left in the sun to dry out.

Manufacturers and retailers can give you further advice on how to recycle or dispose of paints and solvents safely.
