Request to remove a deceased animal from public places.

Domestic animals

The City will collect dead domestic animals including dogs, cats and livestock, from public places and attempt to contact the owner wherever possible.
To advise the City of a deceased animal requiring collection from a public place, please raise a request below.

The City will collect dead native wildlife from public places.
Please note, if the dead animal is located in our natural areas and is small, then it is best for the environment to leave it where it is.
Natural areas that are not regularly frequented are not regularly maintained by the City. For this reason, typically dead native wildlife can be left for natural decomposition to occur.
If the dead animal is creating a smell or is large and most likely will create a smell in a regularly accessed area, please request a collection below.

It is the owners responsibility to make their own arrangements for the death of a family pet.
To notify the City of the death of a registered family pet and update your registration details, please raise a cancel animal registration request.

An Officer will take action within the next two (2) business days.
