Request to temporarily use the verge for building materials, skip bins and sea containers.

Use of verges

Approval is required when seeking permission to temporarily use the verge for the storing of:

Sea containers can only be stored within the property boundary and are not allowed to be stored on the verge or road.

Builders can apply for a licence to deposit building materials on the verge
To apply, please refer to our verge licence page for information and access to lodge an application
To raise a query about storing building materials on a verge, or to amend or cancel a licence, please raise a request below.

Residents can request to temporarily place a skip bin on the verge by raising a request below
Skip bins must not obstruct neighbouring driveways or footpaths and must not create a sightline issue. Skip bins are also to be emptied regularly to ensure that they do not overflow
The City recommends that plans are discussed with neighbours to ensure a mutual understanding of the timing and extent of the works, to help avoid disputes and potential complaints.
