Request for written planning advice
The City can provide advice about general planning matters such as timeframes, zoning, density coding and the City of South Perth Local Planning Scheme No. 7 and other policy requirements over the phone or in person.
If your request requires research, review of documents, additional time to be considered or you require something more formal, then you will be required to lodge a request for written planning advice.

Before you begin
Prior to commencing the application via the link below, ensure you have an electronic copy (eg scan) of the following documentation prior to completing the application process:
- A letter detailing the nature of your request
- Any relevant plans such as a site plan, floor plans and elevations with natural ground levels shown which will assist us in providing accurate advice.
You will be required to attach this information during the application process.
Application attachments
Please ensure you are attaching all plans, materials and supporting information relevant to the application as part of your initial lodgement. Any omissions, or additional materials will be required to be sent as separate emails, which will be limited to standard email size limitations (eg 10MB).
Lodgement guidance
Post lodgement process
Once your application is lodged, the following steps will apply:
- Once we receive the completed form and application deemed complete, a planning officer will review the request and provide a written response (generally within 14 business days)
- Should additional clarification or materials be required the planning officer will contact the applicant to request this information
- If you require further advice following the issue of the written planning advice, you will need to submit another application, including the payment of the applicable fee
- If an enquiry cannot be appropriately responded to within the scope of written planning advice service, the City will inform you of alternatives to assist you obtain the information you require.
