Verges and road reserves
Sea containers are not permitted to be placed within the road reserve, including the verge.
Development approval exemption
- One sea container may be placed within private property temporarily for a maximum of 48 hours, once within a twelve month period without development approval.
- The sea container should be located so as to avoid:
- existing trees and vegetation and
- obstruction of vehicle access and parking including vehicle sightlines.
Development approval required
Development approval may be required to permanently place a sea container on a private property. If the sea container is proposed for ancillary storage to the dwelling it will be assessed as an outbuilding in accordance with the Residential Design Codes and therefore cannot be located within the primary or secondary street setback areas.
