Applications

Should you wish to set-up and conduct an alfresco area on City owned or managed land, you must apply for an alfresco dining licence. In order to apply for an alfresco dining licence, you must first hold a food business registration with the City.

Local Law

The City's Public Places and Local Government Property Local Law 2011 provides regulation for the management of public property and the activities that may be conducted on public property that is owned or managed by the City.

Before you begin

The person who is to register or sign in must be the legal entity proprietor of the food business. They cannot be a third party consultant/applicant.
Please note, a food business must first be registered with the City for the City to consider an associated alfresco dining area. If this is a new food business, both applications may be submitted together. Refer to our establish a new food business page.
You will be required to attach this information during the application process.

Post lodgement process

Once your application is lodged, the following steps will apply:
  • Review and assess information, including requesting further information if required.
  • The City's health service will arrange an appointment time to ensure that the premises comply with the relevant legislation.
  • The application can take up to 10 business days for a decision.
