Bonds
A Road Reserve Access Bond (RRAB) is a bond payable on all demolition and building applications. If any damage or other problems occur with the demolition/construction, that are not rectified upon completion of the building/demolition licence (e.g. Notice of Completion) charges for these shall be taken from the bond.
Damage
The bond applies to everything in the street that is directly associated with the property, including:
- The footpath
- Street trees
- Crossings (crossovers)
- Drains and gullies (including manhole covers)
- Verges
- Concrete kerbs
- Sweeping of roads (sand spills)
- Hazard signs for 'pedestrians beware' (charged at a daily rate)
- Service pits e.g. Telstra, Water Corporation or any other service utilities.
Construction issues
Bond not transferable
The bond is non-transferrable. For example, you can't transfer a bond from a demolition application to a building application. A separate bond is required with each application.
Bond refunds
- When all building or demolition works are complete, the licence holder or initial payee of the bond can request for a refund of the bond.
- To request a refund, complete an Application for Refund of Road Reserve Access Bond form and attach to the request below.
- Verification of bank details is required e.g. a bank statement (current within the last six months) or a deposit slip (requires the bank logo, account name and number).
- Refunds will only be made to the person or company that paid the initial bond unless a request is received in writing advising for the refund to be made to another person or company.
Please note - a separate application and request is required for each property address.
