Reuse Shop

Give old household items a new lease on life. Donate or shop for pre-loved goods at our new Reuse Shop at the Recycling Centre. Operated by Workpower, the Reuse Shop prepares donated items for sale, creating employment opportunities for people living with disability.

The Reuse Shop supports the State Government's shift towards a circular economy and complements a Containers for Change Drop & Go station operated by Good Sammy at the same location, and the City's Verge Valet™ collection service.

What can be donated?

Pre-loved items can be donated to the Reuse Shop, including furniture, homewares, sporting equipment and collectables.

Textiles

Please note: the Reuse shop doesn't accept textiles. These can be dropped in the Good Sammy bins on located on site.

Charity bins

The City of South Perth supports charity activities and works with organisations such as Good Sammy and the Spine and Limb Foundation to benefit the whole community.

You can assist in the following ways:

Always put your donation in the bin and not on the ground outside the bin, as it is illegal to dump goods around charity bins.
Check to see which goods are accepted in the donation bins for recycling. They are not a waste disposal site.
Let the relevant organisation know if you see a bin site that is littered or vandalised so that they can clean it up. Phone numbers are always provided on the sides of the bins.

If you have items that you would like to donate to charity, you can drop them off at the City of South Perth Recycling Centre during opening hours.

Items not accepted

If you cannot donate or sell your pre-loved items, the City's Recycling Centre will accept a number of items free of charge. Check the list of Recycling Centre accepted items before visiting.

The following items are not able to be donated to the Reuse Shop.

Aquatic toys and flotation aids
Blinds with cords *
Bunk beds
Child car seats and restraints
Child's play equipment/toys for under 3's *
Cots (household and portable)
Fire extinguishers and safety gear
Heaters (gas, electric or any liquid fuel burning) *

Helmets (including bicycle, motorcycle, horse riding, skateboarding and e-scooter)
Knives *
Mattresses
Prams and strollers
Vehicle jacks
Vehicle ramps and support stands
Vehicle parts (including bull bars)
240v electrical equipment *

The following items are accepted as donations to the Reuse Shop.

Blinds

Blinds without cords supplied with tensioning devices, warning labels and manufacturing instructions. Curtains without cords.

Toys

Toys for children over three years are accepted.

Heaters

Electric column style oil heaters, halogen elements and bar style heaters are acceptable subject to testing and tagging for electrical safety.

Knives

Knives as part of cutlery.

Electrical equipment

When tested and tagged for electrical safety, or the power supply or the power cord is removed and sold for parts.

Opening Hours: Wednesday to Sunday 8am - 2pm

Closed: Mondays, Tuesdays and public holidays

Payment Methods: Recycling Centre entry vouchers, cash, EFTPOS, Visa or Mastercard

Free recycling is not applicable for commercial businesses.

Weekends

Please arrive no later than 1.45pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
